Upcoming
Workshops
All workshops are hosted at the Patch to Plate Living Urban Homestead in Botany, NSW.
10am–4pm
Sunday 22nd of March
In our PTPL full day workshops, you’ll get your hands dirty, learn how to propagate plants, make your own pickles and ferments, build healthy compost and grow food in the smallest of spaces.
It’s practical and inspiring. You’ll leave with new skills, jars of something you’ve pickled, and the confidence to bring a little more homegrown goodness into your everyday life.
Bring a friend or just come along and meet new people!

This workshop is for anyone wanting to reconnect with real, practical skills and the joy of doing it yourself.
Whether you’ve never grown a thing or just have a few herbs on the balcony, you’ll leave with something new, useful, and genuinely doable.
Beginners who want to start growing food at home
Apartment dwellers, small-space gardeners, backyard weekend warriors
Curious cooks and food lovers who want to try fermenting or pickling
Anyone craving a slower, more sustainable way to live
No experience, tools or garden required — just a willingness to roll up your sleeves and give it a go.
The workshops is run by me, Mitch! The Founder of Patch to Plate Living, I’m a Sydney-based edible landscaper and food grower passionate about transforming any space into a productive, sustainable garden.
Through this workshop, I’ll help you build the skills and confidence to grow food that fits your space, your lifestyle, and your everyday life.
What we’ll Do
Across this hands-on workshop, we’ll move through four practical parts — each designed to give you the confidence and skills to live more sustainably at home.
-
Learn how to take cuttings, grow new plants, and keep them thriving. You’ll pot up your own plant to take home — grown by you, for you.
-
Discover the art of preserving the harvest. You’ll make your own jar of crunchy, tangy pickles and learn simple fermentation techniques to keep seasonal produce lasting longer.
-
Turn kitchen scraps into garden gold. You’ll learn how to build healthy compost — whether you have a backyard or just a balcony.
-
Explore how to turn even the tiniest patch (or windowsill) into a productive food garden. We’ll cover soil, sun, watering, and what to grow where.
-
Enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch with local produce, great conversation, and the chance to connect with other like-minded people.
